World Health Organization: Wealthy nations need to take care of poor developing countries

The World Health Organization (WHO) says that rich nations need to assess the effects of the Corona epidemic on the poor of developing countries.

David Nabarro, the World Health Organization’s special correspondent on COVID-19, tells that the poorest and most working class countries in the developing world are affected by the epidemic and rich countries need to pay attention.

“On the one hand, they are at risk of a deadly epidemic, on the other hand, poor countries have no health, food or employment opportunities,” Nabarro says. “As a result, people are losing their jobs overnight.”

He says that the most troubling thing is that when economic activity is reduced to slow the spread of Corona virus, people are rapidly moving towards extreme poverty as they lose their jobs.

“I have heard that most nations in Asia, Africa and Latin America are suffering from unemployment, hunger and poverty, and I think that after the epidemic ends, the world will face deficiency of food and extreme poverty will be noticeable.” he says. “This has never happened before in decades.”
