Teachers and students of the School of Food Science make handmade moon cakes to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival

On September 18th, the School of Food Science held the “National Unity and Family, Strong Mid-Autumn Festival Teacher-Student Feelings” handmade moon cake activity by teachers and students. More than 40 teachers and students from the college participated in the activity.


Before the start of the activity, Liu Guiqing, secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School of Food, told everyone about the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the origin, types, characteristics and production methods of moon cakes. Then, the students in the Baking Club of the School of Food Science took action. After kneading, waking up, making pie crust, stuffing, kneading and flattening, and pressing molds, they were printed with the school badge and “concentric construction”. Eight kinds of moon cakes with the words “Chinese Dream” and “I love Shida” are made in the skillful hands of teachers and students, and they are put into the baking equipment to wait for maturity. During the activity, teachers and students also recited the Mid-Autumn Festival theme poems together to understand the beauty of traditional culture.


Student Yang Huan said: “This is the first time I have made moon cakes, and it is also the best moon cake I have ever eaten. In the process of making moon cakes, I deeply appreciate the profoundness of Chinese excellent traditional culture. At the same time, I can share with my teachers and students. Completing the making of moon cakes gave me a sense of accomplishment from the bottom of my heart.”
